WOOHOO!  The 2017 Flight season is here.  Some hubs are flying this month, while others will wait until April or later.  Check out all the flight dates here.  

My hub, Honor Flight Columbus, will fly its first flight of the new year on April 15th. I am going as a Guardian on that one, and I am so excited.  HFC Guardian Coordinator Beth Johnson recently posted some updates about this flight on her Facebook page, but here it is:

Here are some stats for 13 of our 84 veterans for our 4-15-2017 Honor Flight Columbus trip. Do you want to thank them for their service? Write a letter--and send to the Honor Flight office by April 6! Do you want to thank them for their service - in person?! Come to the Welcome Home at 8:45pm on Saturday, April 15! *as always, have questions?! ASK ME!!! I would LOVE to tell you about this awesome organization!**

WWII - Navy: Served in Normandy, Mediterranean, France - DD Day invasion - 20 MM Gunner

WWII - Navy: Served in South Pacific aboard USS Zeilin - US Naval Reserve for 42 years

WWII - Army Air Corps: Served as a B17 pilot

WWII - Army: Served as a combat medic in Europe

WWII - Army Air Corp: Served as fighter pilot flying combat missions in China, Burma, French-Indo-China and Thailand

Korean War - Navy: Served as a Seaman in the South Pacific

Korean War - Army: Served at Governor’s Island -- trombonist with 1st Army Band

Korean War - Air Force: Served as aircraft electrician - launch support

Korean War - Navy: Served in the northern Europe on the destroyer USS Steven Potter

Korean War - Navy: Served on board USS Franklin D. Roosevelt - sea duty

Vietnam - Army: Served as a infantry grenadier

Vietnam - Air Force: Served in DaNang, Vietnam - Ground radio communications repair

Vietnam - Marines: Served as machine gun section leader - M60 -- earned a Purple heart
