Sharing "presents" from home.
All of us had to do it,wherever we were. Well, I got lucky,sort-of..My mom sent a double batch of pin wheel cookies to DaNang in 1971. ('Google'--pin wheel cookies if you have no idea what you're missing).I opened up the box and there they were in all their glory; with a slightly different smell than I remembered.
Naturally, everyone crowded around to grab a cookie. One bite, and they all went back in the box. Seems that someone's lighter fluid had saturated the box and everything in it. Well, I LOVE those cookies and ate every one. Burped lighter fluid for over a week, but I was smiling!!

That's a good one, Jeff. I DO know what pinwheel cookies are- also one of my very favorites. I am not sure I would eat them if they were soaked in lighter fluid though :) I can't believe you didn't get sick.
I recently wrote a story about how my battle buddy and I an entire package of Fig Newtons while in Basic Training. There is just something about cookies from home, isn't there?
