Gary, I was at Diego Garcia for 6 months in 79. My squadron was aboard the Nimitz in the Indian Ocean. I was in VS-24 and we had some of the only aircraft that could fly from the island to where the ship was with mail and parts. We hung cargo nets in the torpedo bays and carried it that way. I was on the maintenance crew at Diego Garcia. Had a ball fishing in the lagoon! Some great fish frys with lots of beer too!
