1974 through 1976 I was stationed at NAS Brunswick Maine at the Navy's Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape School. As an instructor I had to go to all kinds of schools. The worst one was the Canadian Forces Arctic Survival School. It was two days of classroom instruction and then ten days in the field. They flew us to Crystal City which is actually about 50 miles or so of Magnetic North Pole. We got off the C130 transport plane and the temp. was -35 deg. Then we got to spend 10 days living in an igloo after we built it! The last full day there, a storm blew in, and the winds made the wind chill hit close to -100 deg. And I have been cold ever since.
