Not only is the United States Army's 237th birthday today, it is also Flag Day.  To get your blood going,  here is a link to our National Anthem, A.K.A. The Star Spangled Banner.

Listen to The Star Spangled Banner (MP3)

Band Only (908 KB)

You can find some great information about the flag, its proper care and handling, the Star Spangled Banner, and many other patriotic symbols in our American Traditions section of this website.

I also am continuing my "1000 Flags Project".  Take pictures of American flags at your homes, offices and communities and e-mail them to me at claudia@yourmilitarystory.com.  I have many more to add today, but you can see what I have so far here.

Tonight I am participating in a Flag Disposal Ceremony at my local American Legion Post.  This is we will ceremoniously  (and properly) dispose of hundreds of faded, torn and unserviceable flags by burning them.  Quite a site to see.
