"They Have Names" Website Honors Those Who Have Fallen

Today I discovered a website I was not familiar with while browsing on Twitter.  Then I realilzed that it was founded and run by Your Military Story member and mega-popular military blogger CJ Grisham.

CJ's blog "A Soldier's Perspective" has been the #1 military blog for years.  He does not sugar-coat things, and is a highly respected senior NCO with multiple deployments.  While the Your Military Story website tends to focus on the more "cheerful" side of military life, CJ sometimes points out the inequities, problems and horrors of war and life in the military. He stands up for what he thinks is right, wrong or forgotten.

His "They Have Names" website tells the story of many of those lost (and in some ways forgotten by the American people) in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Family members or friends of the fallen can send CJ information and pictures to add.  CJ is no stranger to loss.  He knows more than a few of his fellow soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice, including Captain James "Alex" Funkhouser, who the site dedicated to.

Be sure to take a look at CJ's powerful words on both websites.  His They Have Names website needs donations to buy coins to send to the families of the fallen, and to run the site.

Thanks for sharing the site. It's a somber mission, but we must not forget our fallen. The Honorable Hugh Gordon Miller said in 1911, "the nation which fails to honor its heroes, the memory of its heroes, whether those heroes be living or dead, does not deserve to live, and it will not live."
