As I said in my previous posts, I enlisted into the military mainly for college money, but for patriotic reasons as well.
I KNOW there are stories out there that tell a much more complex story of enlisting into the military. Like Jack Dawson in the Titanic movie, some of you may have lost a bet, and that's how you ended up enlisting. Or maybe your friends dared you to, begged you to join them or harassed you until you, too, signed up for Uncle Sam.
Still others out there signed up on a whim, with no intention of doing so until their pen signed the papers. Maybe your draft number was picked in a peculiar-or even suspicious- way?
I am sure there are stories, and lots of them, about how one leaves the civilian world and becomes a "G.I.".
Was there a unique situation to make you enlist into the military?
